Hugs... Let's not forget

Due to the pandemic, we all have that someone we may not be able to hug at the moment, but let’s not forget the benefits for when we are able to hug them again.

Hugging someone you love for 20 seconds a day is the key to being happier & healthier. A big hug releases the bonding hormone oxytocin, also known as the ‘cuddle hormone’ which can lower your cortisol levels, lowering your blood pressure, slow your heart rate and improve your mood. Oxytocin levels rise when we hug, touch or sit close to someone. Hugs heal the feeling of loneliness, fear & anger. Hugging can help you communicate your feelings in a way words can’t. Hugs make you feels special & deepen our relationships. The nurturing touch of a hug builds trust & a sense of safety.
